Christians Cannot Support Abortion: God Knew Us Before We Were Born
“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.” — Jeremiah 1:5
Life is not an accident. Life begins because God Himself ordains it. Conception is never outside His design. Every child is His creation, known and loved before the first heartbeat.
Yet many today—Democrats, Progressives, and others—argue that abortion is acceptable. But abortion is not “health care.” It is the taking of a life that God has formed for His purposes. As Christians, we cannot call good what God calls evil.
Whose Body Is It?
Some insist that women should have control over their own bodies. The only time you have no control over your body, is by rape. But you do have control over your body when you succumb to short term pleasure over long term commitment. But the Word of God says otherwise: “You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your body.” (1 Corinthians 6:19–20). Our bodies belong to Him. So do our choices.
Hard Questions
“What about rape? What about when the mother’s life is at risk?” These are real and painful situations. But if a child is conceived—even in tragedy—that child is still God’s workmanship. Romans 12:21 commands us: “Do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good.” A child is always good and always wanted by God. Even if the parents cannot raise the baby, adoption is a living answer.
If the mother’s life is truly in danger, doctors may face the heartbreaking choice of saving one life instead of losing two. But let’s be honest: the vast majority of abortions today are not about medical emergencies. They are about convenience, fear, or control. That is not God’s will.
God’s Purpose in Every Life
If God knew us before we were born, then our lives are sacred even before conception. Every child—wanted or unwanted, planned or unplanned—has a purpose in His design. You and I are alive today because our parents chose life. For that, we should be thankful.
God numbers our steps, and He numbers theirs too. The question on Christianity and abortion is simple: will we honor the lives He creates, or will we discard them?
